Window Cleaning

Q: What method do you use to clean windows?

A: We use both traditional and modern methods to clean windows in and around Bakewell and the Peak Park. By modern methods we mean by water fed pole.

Q: What is a Water Fed Pole?
A: Imagine a brush on a long extendable pole removing the dirt from your windows. Water is pumped to the brush to agitate the dirt and is then rinsed. We can reach up to 35 feet from the safety of the ground.

Q: Why can't I do it myself?
A: You can, but the results wont be the same. Let me explain. If you brushed and hosed your own windows you would remove some of the worst dirt on the windows, however, you would be guaranteed to leave countless spots all over the window.

Q: Why?
A: Drinking water in the UK varies as to how hard or soft it is. If you went to Scotland or the Lake District you would notice that the water tastes much softer than it does in London. You will also notice that in hard water areas lime scale is a problem. Put simply it is the lime (disolved solids) in the water that will leave spots on glass. Even in soft water areas, a fraction of disolved solids will leave spotting on glass. For this reason before we clean your windows we purify the water we use through a six stage process. This removes virtually all the disolved solids. Before the purification process, the amount of disolved solids locally is about 070-080PPM [Particles per million]. After the process the water is 000PPM.
When we have scrubbed and rinsed the window, because there are no disolved solids in the water, your windows dry spotless.

Q: Why are the windows left wet?
A: There is simply no need to dry them physically as there are no disolved solids in the water. Your windows will dry perfectly clean.

Q: What are the benefits of using a water fed pole?
A: First of all, as a customer you benefit from cleaner windows. Traditional window cleaning with detergents will leave a residue. This residue attracts dirt and grime, with a water fed pole the glass receives a deep clean, removing all of the residue left by prievious window cleaning. After the initial clean less dirt will be attracted to your windows.

Q: Will rain affect the quality of work?
A: One of the main problems with cleaning windows in the traditional way is that even a small shower of rain can comprimise the quality of the finish. However, as rain water is nearly as pure as the water we use, even in a heavy shower the windows will dry clean. For this reason we offer a rain guarantee.

Q: What is a rain guarantee?
A: If you feel that our cleaning in the rain has affected the quality of our work, simply call us within 48 hours and we will rectfy the problem.

Q: What other benefits are there?
A: The main benefit for us is with health & safety. We do all we can to reduce risk, and by working from ground level we greatly reduce any risk of injury from falling from height. Since April 2005 the government has impimented the European Working at Heights Directive. It requires both the employee and employer to do all they can to reduce risk of falling. In practice that means that if a serious accident occured while we were on your property, both Sunshine Cleaning and the home owner would face prosecution. Therefore we are delighted that we took the decision to invest in the Water Fed Pole.

Q: How do I pay you?
A: You can pay with cash or cheque on the day of cleaning, or, if you are out when we call I will leave a bill and an addressed envelope and you can post a cheque at your convienience. (Please make cheques payable to Sunshine Cleaning) You can pay online using the "Pay Now" button or by bank transfer on request.

Q: Can I pay you before you clean them?
A: Yes. Simply multiply the ammount per clean by the amount of visits you wish to pay for. When we have cleaned your windows we will leave a bill which will have PAID written on it.

Q: How often do you increase the prices?
A: For maintenance cleans usually every 2 years. The next price increase is due in January 2009.
